Inspired by the concept of modularity and multifunctionality, Main Bata seeks to reimagine the traditional brick. While bricks are often hidden behind plaster, their potential as a visible and expressive material has already been explored in various patterned and interlocking arrangements.

We aim to push the boundaries even further, creating a brick that functions much like a Lego toy—requiring no mortar, yet locking firmly into place. The design has been developed to allow the bricks to be assembled and disassembled freely, just like building blocks. The strength comes from the precision of the interlocking mechanism, offering both structural integrity and creative freedom.

We deeply value and enjoy the process of research and development in this exploration. While the journey is far from complete, we finished developing the brick’s form. Naturally, challenges arise when creating an object unfamiliar to traditional craftsman. For this reason, our current material exploration remains concrete-based, using red coloring to achieve a consistent brick-red color. A rectangular form, subtracted by semicircles on both sides, creates a full circle shape when combined. These circle gaps are intentionally designed to allow natural ventilation—facilitating airflow while also adding a unique and visually interesting character to the overall design.
